Suffolk County Police said in a news release that a 49-year-old man was driving a car with three people to a Shell gas station. Matthew Ulloa, 18, was jogging past the gas station entrance.

WNBC reported that it happened at around 8 p.m. on Thursday and that it wasn’t clear what happened between the driver and Ulloa other than Ulloa began yelling at the driver down Middle Country Road while he was heading to the gas station.

The driver went to get gas at Shell and then hopped back on the road in the same direction as Ulloa, according to WNBC.

According to SCPD, when the car approached Ulloa, the driver parked and exited his car to confront Ulloa. That was when a physical fight broke out and Ulloa allegedly stabbed the man multiple times with a knife.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, said SCPD.

SCPD said after further investigation, officers arrested Ulloa and he has been booked on a recommended charge of second-degree assault.

No further information has been released.
