JACKSON, Miss. — A Mississippi woman surrendered to police on Thursday in connection with a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy last month, authorities said.
Cartisha Shanta Cashion, 19, of Jackson, was charged with murder, aggravated assault and drive-by shooting, according to Hinds County online booking records.
Otha Brown, 18, of Jackson, also has been charged with murder in the May 26 death of Adrian McDougles and the aggravated assault of his brother, Onterrio McDougles, WLBT-TV reported. Brown, who was arrested on May 27, was also charged with carjacking while armed, carrying a concealed weapon by a felon and violation of probation, online records show.
It was announced during a Friday press conference that on Thursday, June 2, a teen girl turned herself in to police, admitting to being part of the murder of 12-year-old Adrian McDougles. https://t.co/hakGYot59a

According to the Jackson Police Department, Cashion allegedly admitted to investigators that she was one of the people inside a vehicle that was associated with the drive-by shooting, WJTV reported.
“During the interview, information (was) obtained in which she admitted to being one of the suspects inside the black Toyota Avalon on Ventura Drive when Onterrio McDougles and his 12-year-old brother, Adrian McDougles, (were) shot,” the Jackson Police Department said in a news release.
Turkuan Cohen, 18, was originally charged with the crime but is no longer a suspect, WLBT reported. Police said they believed Cohen’s claim that he was not at the scene when Adrian McDougles was shot, according to the television station.
“He had an alibi that was checked out through our investigation which shows that he was not with this individual,” Jackson Police Department Deputy Chief Deric Hearn told WAPT-TV.
Brown was denied bail during a court hearing earlier this week, according to the television station.
