According to KVVU, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived at a home on July 17 just before 4 a.m. after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a woman and a teen with gunshot injuries. Officers learned that a girl and the suspect were still in the house with gunshot injuries.

LVMPD said in a news release that officers learned that the woman and the suspect were married and living in the house with their two children. The couple were arguing which turned violent and the suspect tried to shoot the woman. LVMPD said during the struggle, their son intervened. The woman and the son were able to escape and called for help. Both have non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect shot and killed his daughter before he killed himself, LVMPD said. According to KVVU, LVMPD confirmed that the suspect was an off-duty Northern Las Vegas police officer.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will be releasing the identification and the cause/manner of death for both the daughter and the suspect, LVMPD said.
