HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania man is accused of attacking another with a metal desk and strangling a woman who tried to intervene during the argument, authorities said.
Hector Ortiz Jr. 34, of Allenport, was charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and attempt to cause serious bodily harm with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor counts of strangulation and simple assault, The Daily News of Huntingdon reported.
According to an arrest report, a witness saw Ortiz arguing with his girlfriend, WJAC reported. Ortiz later invited the witness to his home to look at his car, which was parked in a garage, the television station reported.
At one point, Ortiz began arguing with the man and punched him several times before striking the victim with a metal table that was in the garage, according to WJAC.
Ortiz then left the scene with his girlfriend, the television station reported. According to the police report, another woman tried to intervene during the argument, and Ortiz allegedly pushed her to the ground and began to stangle her.
The male victim was taken to an area hospital, WJAC reported.
Ortiz remains in the Huntingdon County Prison, with bail set at $75,000, The Daily News reported.
