SAN ANTONIO — A Texas man is accused of attacking another man with a club after he attempted to collect a debt, authorities said.
Alfonzo Alvarado, 64, of San Antonio, was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbery, according to Bexar County online booking records.
The arrest stems from a June 16 incident in San Antonio, KSAT-TV reported.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Alvarado and another man approached the victim, who owed Alvarado $40.
Alvarado demanded the cash, but when the victim said he did not have it, Alvarado and the other man pulled out clubs, the television station reported.
Alvarado hit the man in the head and took his cellphone, police said.
The two men then fled the scene in a red minivan driven by a woman who has not been identified, KSAT reported.
According to the affidavit, the victim was able to identify Alvarado since they knew each other.
Alvarado’s bail was set at $30,000. He is due in court on Aug. 2, online records show.
