A clip of the Food Network’s Molly Yeh making her “Crunchy Snap Pea Popcorn Salad” was shared on Twitter this week, and just the sight of the mixture seemed to be enough to launch a debate that had some people intrigued that a popcorn salad recipe even exists, and others repulsed by it.

Yeh’s instructions for the dish she said plays well at church dinners included combining popcorn with white cheddar flavoring, carrots, snap peas and chopped celery; then mixing in mayonnaise, sour cream, apple cider vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard and shallots.

In the video clip, Yeh calls the salad “a riff on an iconic Midwestern dish.” She adds that it can be “eaten with a spoon.”

“See, it looks like you’re going to get a salad, but you look underneath, and you get a pile of popcorn! That is my kind of salad!” said Yeh, who hosts “Girl Meets Farm” on Food Network.
