Nash Carter, a tag team champion for the NXT division of WWE, was released by the pro wrestling organization on Wednesday after allegations of domestic abuse were raised by his wife.
Carter, 27, whose real name is Zachary Green, was released from his contract on Wednesday after being accused of abusing his wife, Kimber Lee, also a wrestler, who is currently signed to Impact Wrestling, Sports Illustrated reported.
Lee posted pictures on Twitter showing her face with bruises, according to Bleacher Report. Lee added that her husband split her lip open after getting drunk, the sports website reported.
The news was first reported by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.
“He told me I’m a wrestler so I’m always marked up. I’ve hid this for a year and even forgave him. But I can’t hide it anymore,” Lee wrote. “You all wanted the proof. There it is. I’m sorry I backed out but he was telling me lies all weekend to get me to not say anything.”
Carter has not publicly commented about his wife’s allegations, Sports Illustrated reported.
Carter and his partner, Wes Lee, won the WWE developmental promotion’s NXT tag team championship at Stand & Deliver on Saturday, according to WWE. The event was part of WWE’s WrestleMania 38 weekend at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Nash and Lee defeated Imperium and The Creed Brothers in a triple-threat match.
The wrestling promotion has not officially commented on Nash’s release.
Nash Green previously wrestled in Impact as Zachary Wentz, part of the Rascalz group with Wes Lee (then known as Dezmond Xavier) and Trey Miguel, according to SB Nation. He signed with WWE in December 2020.
Kimber Lee formerly wrestled for WWE in 2017-18 and is using the name Abbey Laith in NXT, Sports Illustrated reported. She and Carter have been married since May 2020, according to the magazine.
