One of the beagles rescued from an alleged puppy mill will get her time to shine on the K-9 gridiron.
A beagle named “June” is one of 4,000 rescued last year from a Virginia breeder. Now, she’s one of the lucky dogs who will be featured in this year’s Puppy Bowl.
June, who was originally called “Allison,” was one of 10 beagles rescued from the Envigo facility by Green Dogs Unleashed.
Envigo was sued by federal officials over animal welfare concerns, including poor medical care and lack of food.
Erika Proctor from Green Dogs said June was “a go-getter from day one,” The Richmond Times Dispatch reported.
“She was smart, got into lots of mischief ... and everyone fell in love with her on sight,” Proctor said.
According to her new owners, the Whites, June loves to play fetch, sniff around the yard, and a “good snuggle session,” the newspaper reported.
The Whites adopted her in October, after the Puppy Bowl was filmed. She was still known as “Allison” at the time.
So when watching the bowl, be sure to cheer for Allison/June, along with another dog from the rescue, Cheeky Tinker.
