COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Radio personality Don Imus, best known for his “Imus in the Morning” show, has died.
He was 79. A family representative told The Hollywood Reporter that he had been hospitalized since Christmas Eve. The cause of death was not given.
Shocking news on the passing of my friend, Don Imus. He will long be remembered as one of the true giants in the history of radio. My thoughts and prayers to Deirdre and Wyatt. God speed.

Imus retired from his radio show in March 2018, NBC reported. Nicknamed the I-Man by fans, he was known for his controversial on-air statements, including one about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team that led to his firing from CBS in 2007.
Imus is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deirdre and his six children: sons Wyatt and Lt. Zachary Don Cates and daughters Nadine, Ashley, Elizabeth and Toni, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
