Recall Alert: Glove fragments found in certain Panera ready-to-eat soup

A batch of Panera Breads-branded ready-to-eat chicken tortilla soup was contaminated with fragments of gray safety gloves, prompting a recall by the manufacturer.

Blount Fine Foods is recalling 6,384 pounds of 16-ounce containers of “Panera Bread at Home Chicken Tortilla Soup” that were made July 1, with lot code 070121-1V and a use-by date of Sept. 9, according to the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The recalled soup was sold in Arizona, Florida, Georgia and Texas. People who bought the contaminated soup are urged to throw it away or return it at the place of purchase.

The soup maker found out about the issue after fielding several complaints from people who had bought it. There have not been any reports of illness or other adverse effects from it.
