LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets Inc. has issued a voluntary recall for select “Steam-in-Bag” products containing a specific butternut squash ingredient.
The grocery chain’s recall is the direct result of Pero Family Farms Co.’s broader recall of butternut squash products amid concerns of possible listeria contamination.
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” Maria Brous, Publix communications director, said in a prepared statement.
Brous confirmed there have been no reported illnesses linked to the store-brand “Steam-in-Bag” products to date.
The recalled Publix products were all sold between Jan. 3 and Jan 14 and include:
• Publix Steam-in-Bag Green Bean Butternut Squash
• Publix Steam-in-Bag Butternut Medley
• Publix Steam In Bag Butternut Brussel Pecan
Consumers who have purchased the recalled items may return the products to their local store for a full refund. Publix customers with additional questions may call its consumer relations department at 1-800-242-1227 or visit its website at www.publix.com.
