WASHINGTON — A company that makes ready-to-eat salads is under a nationwide recall after packets of ranch dressing actually contained Caesar dressing with anchovies.
According to a news release Thursday night from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, Ready Pac Foods, Inc., plants in Swedesboro, New Jersey, and Jackson, Georgia, are recalling approximately 222,915 pounds of the ready-to-eat salads that contain meat and poultry.
The products were produced this year from Aug. 27 through Sept. 19 under the brand names Ready Pac Bistro Chef Salad; Kroger Brand Garden Salad with Chicken & Bacon; Kroger Brand Chef Salad Kit for One; Little Salad Bar Chef Salad; and Signature Farms Café Bowl Chef Salad.

The problem was discovered when Ready Pac was notified by their salad dressing supplier that a shipment of Litehouse ranch salad dressing was incorrectly labeled, the FDA said in its release.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions, the agency said.
The products subject to recall may bear establishment number “M-18502B”, “P-18502B”, “M-32081″, or “P-32081″ printed on the packaging next to the use by date, according to the FDA.
Consumers who have bought these products are urged not to consume them, the FDA stated in its release. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
