COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Red Bull delivery truck needed wings Wednesday after crashing into a historic covered bridge in Georgia.
Cobb County said the truck hit a protective beam at the base of the Concord Bridge and became wedged beneath the roof of the bridge, WSB-TV reported.
The driver was uninjured and is expected to face charges, officials said. The bridge is believed to be undamaged. The county Department of Transportation is expected to seek reimbursement for repair costs.
The Concord Bridge, with only 7 feet of clearance, is known for being crashed into over the years.
Trucks were striking the bridge monthly until 2019, when crews installed hanging chains and other safety devices to warn drivers of the tight space, WSB-TV reported.
This is the first incident on the bridge in about a year and a half.
