Samuels’ mother, Beverly Samuels-Burch, told NBC that she learned of her son’s death on social media.

“That was a terrible thing for social media to put that out. I didn’t even know. I hadn’t even been notified,” she said in a phone call on Friday. “All I’m doing is requesting that people pray for us.”

According to NBC, Atlanta police said they were called to an apartment on East Paces Ferry Road on Thursday morning concerning “a person injured.”

A woman in the apartment told police that Samuels had complained that he was suffering chest pain and that he fell, a police report states. The woman called 911.

WSB-TV reported that Samuels has suffered a heart attack.

Samuels, 56, had 1.4 million subscribers for his YouTube videos. The videos sparked outrage among some who said Samuels blamed Black women for a variety of dating and relationship issues.

In April, Samuels called unmarried women 35 years old and older “leftovers.”

“If you have made it to 35 and you are unmarried, you are a leftover woman…you are what is left. Men know that there is likely something wrong with you whether you want to hear it or not,” said Samuels. “I am telling you the truth that you don’t want to hear. Men know that there is likely something wrong with you—that you can not be an adjustable six or higher—35 and unmarried. Something wrong with you. That’s where men automatically coming at it.”
