The couple told the publication that they’ve “always talked about” having kids, but that they “wanted the first few years to travel and have time on the road, to see things and experience life.”
The couple got married in 2018 in North Carolina, Billboard reported. Their ceremony was used for the American Idol winner’s “This Is It” video.
Gabi McCreery is a pediatric nurse and said that her career has prepared her to be a mom.
“(It) definitely has shown me the ropes a little bit,” she told People magazine. “Even just down to changing diapers multiple times a day, and figuring out how to soothe the baby when they’re upset, for sure has helped.”
The baby is due in November and the couple plans on taking the baby on the road, possibly making a nursery in a tour bus.
