HOUSTON — Selena will be honored Sunday in Houston, as the late Tejano singer will be inducted into the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Star Trail Hall of Fame.
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, who was fatally shot March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas, performed at the rodeo a month earlier, KPRC reported. Her Feb. 26, 1995, concert at the rodeo set an all-time attendance record at the rodeo of any performer, the television station reported.
Selena will become the ninth person to be inducted with a plaque at the Star Trail of Fame at 1:30 p.m. local time Sunday, KTRK reported.
The singer performed at the rodeo for three consecutive years.
Sunday’s induction coincides with RodeoHouston’s Go Tejano Day, according to KTRK.
