DENHAM SPRINGS, La. — A father and son are both behind bars following a Saturday morning shooting that left a popular Elvis Presley tribute artist dead in Denham Springs, Louisiana.
Trace Pigott, 28, and his father, 53-year-old Tommy Ray Pigott, were both taken into custody in New Orleans at separate times and are awaiting transportation to Livingston Parish in connection with the killing of Jason Baglio, WWL reported.
Baglio, also known by his stage name of “Jayson Alfano,” worked as the head chef for the Livingston Council on Aging, The Advocate reported.
According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 3:30 a.m. call of shots fired and found Baglio mortally wounded by several gunshots, WWL reported.
Both Trace and Tommy Ray Pigott were in the custody of the New Orleans Police Department by early Sunday morning, WVUE reported.
Trace Pigott faces multiple counts, including second-degree murder, while Tommy Ray, who the sheriff’s office confirmed was present at the shooting, is facing a count of principal to second-degree murder. Both men left the scene of the shooting, the TV station reported.
Baglio was featured recently by The Advocate in an article about the Livingston Council on Aging’s new kitchen, in which he helped prepare between 400 and 600 daily meals for area senior citizens.
Baglio, a resident of Independence, Louisiana, launched his tribute artist career in Tangipahoa Parish before becoming well known throughout the Southeast for his performances, WVUE reported.
A motive in the shooting has not been publicly released, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at (225) 686-2241 x1 or CRIMESTOPPERS at (225) 344-STOP.
