DEERFIELD, Ill. — The “Skinny house” fetched a hefty sale price last week.
The unusually shaped house in Deerfield, Illinois, went viral after a video of its exterior went viral on TikTok, WAND-TV reported.
It is only 3 feet wide at one end, but the two-bedroom, two-and-half bathroom home opens up to a wider side. Overall, the home in the Chicago suburbs, known locally as the “Pie House,” covers 1,122 square feet. It sold for $260,000, Coldwell Banker noted on its website.
TikTok user @eli.korn_ posted a video of the home, posing in front of the unusually shaped design.
The video went viral and received more than 1.2 million views and nearly 5,000 comments.
The home sits on a 3,876-square-foot, triangular lot and extends to about 20 feet in width, Today reported. Including a basement, there is more than 1,600 square feet of living space.
“Good natural light with lots of character,” the Coldwell website said.
Realtor Alan Berlow, who sold the home, said the dimensions of the home were deceiving. The 3-foot part of the house is where one of the bathrooms is situated.
“The space and how it’s distributed through the home is certainly nontraditional but it works,” Berlow told Today. “The home was built specifically for the size of the lot and it’s far more functional than it looks.
“It’s so unique and it’s a very well-known home in the community. As far as some of the viral videos on TikTok, it just goes to show the curiosity of real estate flows through all generations, and we’re excited they are putting their own brand of creativity on it.”
The home was built in 2003, according to Fox News.
