CASTLE PINES, Colo. — A Colorado family was glad to receive a special delivery from a FedEx driver last week.
Liza Menzies, of Castle Pines, said the driver was able to recover their 3-year-old golden retriever, Catcher, after the dog got out of the house, KDVR reported.
“We were getting some repairs done on the house. Our contractor left to go to lunch and shut the front door," Menzies told the television station. “The wind blew the door open while I was gone, and Catcher escaped.”
Shortly after Catcher got out of the house, Menzies received a text message from the FedEx driver, alerting her she was going to receive a 61-pound package, KDVR reported.
“He just said, ‘I found your dog, and the address on her tag is where I’m going to take her’ and then he put her in the house with such care,” Menzies told the television.
Menzies watched on her doorbell camera as the driver “delivered” Catcher.
“Seeing him carry her into the house like that… In my head, I was thinking of the theme song from ‘Titanic,’” Menzies told KDVR. “He was taking such care and love with her that it was really amusing.”
“He interrupted his day and his package delivery schedule to pick her up and hand carry her into our home and lock the door behind him. I don’t want to think about where else she could have ended up, He is certainly our family’s hero."
