ST. LOUIS — Penguins at the St. Louis Zoo enjoyed a snow day and took advantage of it to visit some polar and grizzly bears.
The eight penguins, native to the Antarctic, were allowed to stroll through the zoo during a snow day on Wednesday, KMOV reported.
King penguins Ethel and Elliot, along with Gentoo penguins CJ, Oshie, Linus, Sunny, Double, and Trouble, were allowed free rein through the zoo with the help of the facility’s bird and carnivore animal care teams, the television station reported.
Through the cooperation of our Bird and Carnivore animal care teams, our penguins were able to get up close to see the polar and grizzly bears. The penguins willingly approached.

The penguins visited their neighbors on Polar Bear Point to visit polar bear Kali and grizzly bears Huck and Finley, KDSK reported.
According to KTVI, the penguins live inside the zoo in the Penguin and Puffin Coast exhibit and are given the option “to participate in spontaneous winter walks that are enriching for the birds,” officials said.
The walks are not pre-scheduled and do not occur regularly, the television station reported.
Judging from the video the zoo posted, all of the animals seemed to enjoy the day.
