HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. — Authorities have apprehended two men wanted in the deadly shooting of a Helena-West Helena police officer, WHBQ-TV reported.
The officer, identified Friday as 41-year-old Travis C. Wallace, died while investigating a tip Thursday night about a Nov. 1 shooting, officials said.
Update 1:45 p.m. ET Nov. 13: Arkansas State Police identified the officer slain Thursday as Officer Travis C. Wallace, 41, according to WHBQ-TV.

Update 12:05 p.m. ET Nov. 13: Authorities have charged 29-year-old Latarius Howard with capitol murder in the deadly shooting of a Helena-West Helena police officer, according to WHBQ-TV.
Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Howard and another man, identified as 24-year-old Bruce Hillie, in Mississippi after Thursday’s fatal shooting. WHBQ-TV reported Hillie was charged with hindering apprehension. On Friday, he was awaiting extradition to Arkansas, according to the news station.
Update 10:55 a.m. ET Nov. 13: Police confirmed to WHBQ that Latarius Howard, 29, was captured in Bolivar County, Mississippi.

A second person was also apprehended, according to WHBQ, although he was not immediately identified.
Original report: Investigators in Arkansas are searching for a man suspected of shooting and killing a Helena-West Helena police officer, authorities said.
According to WHBQ-TV, officers arrived at the Delta Inn in Helena-West Helena about 4:30 p.m. Thursday to investigate a tip about a Nov. 1 shooting. The suspect, 29-year-old Latarius Howard, opened fire at the responding officers, striking one of them, police Chief James Smith told the news outlet.

The officer, whose name has not been released, died at a nearby hospital, WHBQ reported.
A manhunt for Howard, also known as L.T. Truitt, is underway, according to police. Authorities said he was seen traveling in a maroon SUV, the news outlet reported.
State police and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' field office in Little Rock are assisting with the suspect, according to WHBQ.
