AUSTIN, Texas — Two people are dead after a hostage situation unfolded Tuesday at a medical office in Texas, authorities said.
According to KXAN-TV, the hours-long standoff began about 4:30 p.m. CST Tuesday at Children’s Medical Group on West 35th Street in Austin. Officers with the Austin police SWAT team responded after receiving a 911 call claiming that an armed suspect had taken hostages in a medical office, KTBC reported.
The situation continued until shortly before 11 p.m., after police sent a robot into the facility, KXAN reported. Police then entered the building and found two people dead, according to the news station.
“The SWAT situation has ended,” Austin police tweeted about 11:20 p.m. “Two subjects have been located and were pronounced deceased. The APD homicide unit is on scene and investigating.”

Police have not yet provided any details about the identities of the dead or how they died, the news outlets reported. The department tweeted that its public information officer would release more information Wednesday.
