MCKINNEY, Texas — A 15-year-old Texas boy has been charged with murder after his mother’s beating death was captured on a home surveillance video, authorities confirmed Sunday.

McKinney police were called to the Donelson Drive home at around 1 a.m. Sunday by the boy’s father, and responding officers found the mother, identified as 50-year-old Stacy Ellen Barney, dead inside the home, CBS-DFW reported.
The boy, who has not been publicly identified, was located in the area a short while later by police, NBC-DFW reported.
McKinney police said in a statement that the home surveillance video showed the boy beating his mother.
“Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this extremely difficult time,” the department expressed in its statement.
The investigation is ongoing.
