BEAUMONT, Texas — A 41-year-old Texas woman was fatally shot early as she attempted to break up a fight at a Beaumont apartment complex, authorities said.
Monica Landrio, of Beaumont, suffered “multiple gunshot wounds” when police arrived shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sunday, KBMT reported.
Landrio was taken to an area hospital, where she died Monday, the television station reported.

Witnesses told police Landrio had fired a shot from a weapon in an attempt to break up the fight, KFDM reported. Police said a male juvenile responded by firing several rounds and striking Landrio, the television station reported.
The teen, who police said was 15, remains in custody, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the release.
