TOMBALL, Texas — A Texas woman was injured Monday morning after she was shot four times by her ex-husband hours before their child custody hearing, investigators said.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the woman’s ex-husband, Aaron Wright, cut the power to the house around 3:14 a.m. before breaking into the house through a back window and opening fire on his former spouse, KPRC reported.
“I understand he has threatened (his ex-wife’s) new boyfriend multiple times,” investigators said. “I’m sure this was also a contentious divorce but we are still looking into all of that.”
Investigators said there were ongoing issues between the woman, Wright and his new girlfriend as well. Officials said the girlfriend was with Wright at the time of the shooting.
The couple had a hearing scheduled later Monday over custody of their four children aged 5 to 12 years old.
Wright’s ex-wife is expected to survive. The children were not injured.
Wright was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
