The crash occurred at about 11 a.m. EDT, Biddeford Deputy Police Chief JoAnne Fisk confirmed to the Sun Journal. Fisk said she could not identify the victims.

Police said 81 passengers were aboard the train, WGME-TV reported. According to Amtrak spokesperson Christina E. Leeds, the train was traveling from Boston to Brunswick, Maine, when two people were trespassing on the track. The individuals “came into contact with the train east of Saco,” Leeds told the Sun Journal in an email.

None of the passengers or crew members on the train were injured, according to the newspaper.

Leeds said Amtrak is working with the Biddeford Police Department to investigate the incident, Leeds said.

Amtrak announced in a tweet that Train 694 had “terminated” its route, and its passengers were placed on other trains and were being rerouted to Portland.
