Brian Travers, who was the band’s saxophone player and songwriter, died Sunday at the age of 62.

A statement from the band said he had been diagnosed with cancer. He had surgery to remove two brain tumors in 2019 and apparently had another procedure this year, BBC News reported.

Travers formed the band in Birmingham, U.K., in 1978. They were probably best known for the mainstream hits and covers “Red Red Wine” and “(Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You,” NME reported.

They also were known for such hits as “Food for Thought,” “I Think It’s Going to Rain Today” and “One in Ten,” BBC News reported.

UB40 sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and has had more than 40 top 40 songs.

Travers, who leaves behind his wife Leslie, daughter Lisa and son Jamie, last performed with UB40 in 2019 at Arena Birmingham.
