WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Taking a dip in a motel pool can be relaxing, but not when driving a sports car.
A driver said he hit the gas instead of the brake Friday, plunging his vehicle into the pool at a Florida motel, WPTV reported.
According to West Palm Beach Fire Rescue, the man driving the sports car and the woman who was a passenger were not injured when the black Hyundai backed through a gate and crashed into the swimming pool at a Holiday Inn Express in West Palm Beach, WPEC reported.
Ethan Coffey told WPBF he was backing up in the parking lot when he made the wrong move.
“I was in the driver seat, went to hit the brake but I hit the gas in total freak-out mode and I was swimming,” Coffey told the television station.
A towing company sent a truck to remove the car from the water, WPBF reported.
No one was in the pool when the incident occurred, police told the television station.
