Val Bisoglio, actor in ‘Saturday Night Fever,’ ‘Quincy M.E.’, dead at 95

Val Bisoglio, who played John Travolta’s father in “Saturday Night Fever” and Danny Tovo on the 1970s television drama “Quincy M.E.,” died Oct. 18. He was 95.

Bisoglio died in his mountain home near Los Olivos, California, Variety reported. His death was confirmed by his wife, Bonnie Bisoglio.

Val Bisoglio played Travolta’s hot-tempered father in 1977′s “Saturday Night Fever” and starred in 138 episodes of “Quincy M.E.” from 1976 to 1983, according to IMDb.com.

He also was featured in the 1979 movie, “The Frisco Kid” in the role of Chief Gray Cloud, Variety reported.

Bisoglio played Army cook Sgt. Sal Pernelli in three episodes of “M*A*SH” in 1981-1982, according to IMDb.com. He was featured in three episodes of “The Sopranos” in 2002 as Murf Lupo, the website reported.

Born Italo Valentino Bisoglio on May 7, 1926, in New York City, the actor performed on the New York stage in productions such as “Kiss Mama,” “A View from the Bridge” and “Wait Until Dark,” according to Variety. He also appeared in New York City’s Shakespeare in the Park with Arthur Penn.

Bisoglio participated in the Mobilization for Youth pilot project during the Kennedy administration, the website reported. The program trained teenage dropouts for employment.
