SCHERTZ, Texas — Surveillance video shows the moment a big rig stopped on the tracks and was hit by a train.
The video, posted to Facebook by an employee of a nearby business, shows the truck, which appears to be carrying cars in its trailer, stopping on the train tracks. Moments after it stops, the gate arms begin to lower and a train begins to sound its horn. The train eventually smashes into the truck, pushing it out of view.
People who work nearby told WOAI that the area is dangerous because trucks have been getting stuck on the tracks for years. A sign does warn truck drivers about the hazard, but workers nearby told the station that most drivers don’t heed the warning.
Nobody was hurt in the collision, KSAT reported.
A video uploaded to YouTube shows crews working to clear the debris from the crash several hours later.
The Schertz Police Department said in a Facebook post that the road would be closed at the railroad tracks for approximately a week.
