GOODE, Va. — Elf on the Shelf is a fun holiday game for children, but a Virginia elementary school principal took the game a step further Wednesday.
Andy Greenough, principal at Otter River Elementary School in Goode, promised his students that if all the angels on their school tree were picked and presents were bought, he would dress up as the Elf character, WSET reported.
Mr. Greenough at @BCPS_Education Otter River Elem. is AWESOME! 👏🎄

After students, staff and parents answered the challenge, Greenough was ready for the payback.
Wednesday morning, students were treated to an Elf on the Roof, as Greenough dressed up and climbed onto the school’s roof, WSET reported.
The Goode deed was a nice way to head into the Christmas holidays, and to help children who otherwise would not have a Christmas present.
The school’s last day before winter break is Friday, December 20 and they will be back January 6.
