According to The Washington Post and the BBC, the ordeal occurred Saturday in the Gulf of Squillace, less than 10 nautical miles from Catanzaro. Italy’s coast guard said the superyacht, dubbed My Saga, was en route to Sicily from Gallipoli when it began to sink, the news outlets reported.

The yacht’s five crew members and four passengers were rescued, according to the BBC. Officials said no one was hurt in the incident, the Post reported.

As the weather worsened, a towing company that was trying to bring the vessel to shore ultimately had to abandon the sinking yacht, the coast guard said.

Officials are investigating what caused the incident, according to the news outlets.
