According to WTMJ-TV, the Milwaukee County Zoo in Milwaukee shared the news Tuesday, posting a video of the pups on social media. The new arrivals, born Feb. 26 to mom Clover, join four other pups born to mother Shamrock on Feb. 7. Larkey fathered both litters, WTMJ reported.

“MORE PUPS!” the zoo wrote in the Facebook post, adding that the newest litter includes two males and one female.

“This is Clover’s first litter and she’s been ‘super protective’ of her pups, often keeping them hidden under her.”

Each of the unnamed babies, now 3 weeks old, weighs 600 to 700 grams, WITI reported. The pups from Shamrock’s litter currently weigh more than 1,000 grams each, the zoo said.

Typically, baby river otters open their eyes for the first time when they are 1 month old and start to swim a month later, according to SeaWorld.
