FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in an abandoned juvenile facility in Monroe County, Michigan.
Michigan State Police said that they were called out Friday to the Boysville Juvenile Detention Center in Frenchtown Township, which has been abandoned for a report of a deceased person inside, according to WXYZ. When officers arrived, they found a woman on the floor inside. First responders declared her dead at the scene.
Police in a news release identified the woman as Kayla Sedosky.
It was reported by WJBK that her body was found tied up and wrapped up in a tarp. Sedosky’s death remains under investigation including her cause of death.
The detention center was run by a religious-based organization called Boysville of Michigan until it lost funding and ceased operations, according to the news outlet. The building was abandoned in 2008.
