REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — Police in Ohio said a teen girl found a razor blade inside Snickers bar she received while trick-or-treating.
The 14-year-old from Reynoldsburg took a bite of a candy bar Thursday and immediately noticed something inside the candy, authorities told WBNS in Columbus. Police examined the bar via X-ray and found a disposable razor blade inside, according to TV station WBNS.
The girl was not injured.
"Everybody thought she was kidding," said the girl's grandmother, Stephanie, who did not want to give her last name.
"I had never seen it before," she added. "I had always heard it, but I've never seen it."
Authorities in Seattle can’t recall a similar case happening here or in King County. They also said police here have not received reports of drugs being given as candy.
“The most common thing we see are robberies – where bags of candy are stolen by older kids,” King County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West said last week. “What they don’t realize is that can be a robbery.”
Seattle Police Sgt. Sean Whitcomb said last week there were no reports of drugs being given out on Halloween, and he’d never heard of a razor blade case actually happening.
“Last year there was talk about edible marijuana – that people would be giving it out,” he said. “But we haven’t been reports of that either.”
