EVERSON, Wash. — Two people have been killed in a two-car crash near Everson in Whatcom County.
The crash occurred on State Route 9 at milepost 76.
The Washington State Patrol said a white Ford pickup with two men inside were heading north on SR 9. The 23-year-old driver told officers he swerved to avoid a deer and struck a Toyota pickup that was heading south.
The two men in the Toyota were killed. Both died at the scene.
The men in the Ford were not hurt.
It was very foggy at the time of the crash and the pavement was damp, police said.
Troopers said the road is fully blocked and will remain closed for a few hours while officers investigate.
