LOS ANGELES — Two suspects from Oregon are under arrest on suspicion of impersonating firefighters at the Palisades Fire.

On Saturday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau investigators got a call about two suspects possibly impersonating firefighters.

With information provided by the Los Angeles Police Department, the LASD stopped the suspects driving a firetruck trying to get into an evacuation zone of the Palisades Fire.

A 31-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were wearing firefighting gear and CAL-FIRE t-shirts. They told deputies that they were part of the “Roaring River Fire Department” in Oregon.

After conducting their investigation, deputies learned that no fire department existed and that the fire truck they were driving was bought at an auction.

According to LASD, the suspects admitted to being in the evacuation zone on Jan 17.

The suspects were arrested on suspicion of impersonating a firefighter and entering an evacuation zone and the fire truck was impounded.

LASD will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Tuesday.
