Wednesday, the jury heard Michele Anderson tell detectives how and why she killed her family on Christmas Eve 2007 in Carnation.

Prosecutors played Anderson's confession which lasted more than two hours. Michele Anderson and her boyfriend Joseph McEnroe arrived back at the crime scene after the bodies of six members of her family were found on Dec. 26, 2007.

Anderson agreed to a recorded statement. For the first 45 minutes or so she told detectives she last saw her parents on Christmas Eve before she and McEnroe left and drove to Las Vegas to elope. She told investigators they came home twice, once to get her wallet, another time to get fruit off the counter. In 2007, Anderson and McEnroe lived in a mobile home on her parents' Carnation property.

Detectives then asked Anderson why she thought police were at her parents' house. It is then that Anderson cracked and said, "It's not Joe's fault. It's all me."
"As soon as I shot the gun, I felt so bad like what the hell have I done? I'm a monster."

Anderson detailed how she and McEnroe went to her parents' house on Christmas Eve. She said she shot her dad and the gun jammed so McEnroe shot Wayne Anderson again. Next she said McEnroe shot her mom, Judy Anderson. Michele Anderson said they cleaned up the house and hid her parents' bodies outside. When asked why she killed her parents Anderson said she was upset they asked her to start paying rent and utilities. She claimed her brother owed her money and said her parents sided with her brother.

When her brother Scott and his family arrived Anderson said she shot him. When he charged her, Anderson said McEnroe shot him. According to Anderson's confession they both shot Erica, then McEnroe murdered the youngest victims, Olivia, 5, and Nathan,3

When asked why they killed the kids, Anderson answered, "I just thought if they saw their parents dead, that they'd be scarred for life."

Detectives asked Anderson how long she'd planned to kill her family, she told them "two weeks."

Last spring, Joseph McEnroe was convicted of six counts of aggravated first-degree murder.

He was sentenced to life in prison after the jury could not agree on the death penalty.

The death penalty was removed as a possible punishment for Anderson after McEnroe received a life sentence.

Prosecutors believe McEnroe and Anderson are equally responsible for the murders.

The defense did not give an opening statement, so there is no hint at how they will defend Anderson.

The medical examiner will testify on Wednesday. Dr. Richard Haruff will show autopsy photos and describe how the victims were killed.
