SEATTLE, Wash. — We saw substantial moisture Saturday into Sunday with Olympia reporting more than half an inch. Meanwhile, Tacoma saw a third of an inch, and nearly a quarter of an inch of rain fell at Seattle Tacoma International Airport.

The .22 inches of rain that was reported SeaTac puts it at .30 of an inch for all of October -- still in place for the driest October on record (0.31).

That being said, we could be out of the running, depending on how much moisture comes this week.

Monday will be the drier of the days in the near future, with some rain expected in the South Sound close to Thurston County. Besides a few passing showers, it will mostly be cloudy on Monday.

Early models suggest just under a quarter of an inch of rain to a half inch of rain by the end of the week, but that’s a ballpark estimate at the moment.

A cool down is coming with the moisture from Tuesday rolling into Wednesday, when highs in the lowlands will be in the low 50s.

This will drop snow levels to the elevation of Snoqualmie Pass from Wednesday through the rest of the week.

This will time with a wet system through Thursday, so there is plenty of moisture to fall as snow. NWS expects up to four inches of snow on the passes and seven inches at the highest peaks by the end of the week.
