Woman slumped over wheel on I-90 saved by other driver

MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol said the quick actions of a driver on Interstate 90 on Mercer Island prevented a woman, who was having a medical emergency, from a serious crash.

A man driving a white Chevrolet pickup truck saw a woman in a green Chevrolet Cavalier slumped over the steering wheel while heading west toward Seattle.

The Cavalier struck a Jersey barrier on the north side of the freeway and was veering back to the left, coming across all the westbound lanes of traffic.

The driver of the truck maneuvered his pickup to the front of the Cavalier until it came to a stop a little east of Island Crest Way, according to police.

The driver of the Cavalier was transported to the hospital.  Troopers said it was believed that she may have had a seizure.

Both vehicles had minor damage.
