WSP sergeant injured when suspected DUI driver hits patrol vehicle

SEATTLE — A Washington State Patrol sergeant in his vehicle was hit by a suspected DUI driver Friday night during a traffic stop on Interstate 90.

The incident, which happened just west of the East Highrise, blocked the ramp from West Mercer.

According to troopers, after the collision, the suspected driver's vehicle caught on fire.

The sergeant was taken to a hospital as a precaution. He had minor injuries to his neck and back.

The driver was arrested for investigation of DUI.

Troopers are investigating.
