SEATTLE — New details about a controversial plan for taller buildings in Seattle's University District will be discussed at an open house Tuesday night.
The city is proposing allowing developers build up to 320 feet, as tall as the University of Washington Tower, currently the tallest building in the neighborhood.
Officials want to encourage construction around light rail, but activists fear taller buildings will push out small businesses and low-rise affordable housing.
“How many places are going to be there to house homeless people, low income people because those numbers are important. They're important in my life and they're important in a lot of people's lives,” said Daniel at an earlier open house.
The public can learn about the formal proposal at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Neptune Theater.
