After the Climate Pledge Arena announced it is bringing an NBA preseason game with the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 3, tickets went on sale Wednesday.
“We are thrilled to be able to continue the legacy of basketball in Seattle by hosting two of the Western Conference’s finest teams.” said Steve Mattson, general manager of Climate Pledge Arena. “Climate Pledge Arena was built for hockey, music and basketball.”
The Seattle Supersonics played in the original facility, known as the Seattle Center Coliseum, before they moved to the Kingdome in 1979.
The Supersonics returned to the arena in 1985 until it was renovated (the Supersonics spent a year at Tacoma Dome during the renovation), and it was renamed to KeyArena in 1995.
On April 13, 2008, the Supersonics played their last game in Seattle against the Dallas Mavericks.
The NBA would return again in 2018 with an exhibition game between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell said, “Seattle has been, and always will be, a basketball city through and through. From local talent that produces first-round draft picks, to our championship professional basketball team, the Seattle Storm, we know this sport unites our community and builds civic pride. We welcome the Clippers, Trail Blazers and NBA back to Seattle for this exciting opportunity.”
As of noon, standard and resale ticket prices range from $55 to $600.
Tickets are on-sale now at ticketmaster.com.
