SEATTLE — The investor group financing an effort to being the NHL and the NBA to Seattle announced it has added a new group of high-powered local investors to its ownership.
The group of Seattle business leaders range from Amazon's Web- Services' C-E-O to the owners of the Sounders and the Space Needle and the twin sons of former Sonics' owner Barry Ackerley.
The group includes:
- Andy Jassy - CEO of Amazon's Web Services
- Adrian Hanauer - Majority owner of the Sounders FC
- Chris Ackerley - Son of former Seattle Sonics owner Barry Ackerley
- Ted Ackerley - Son of former Seattle Sonics owner Barry Ackerley
- Jeff Wright - Chairman of the Space Needle
- Jay Deutsch - CEO and co-founder of Bensussen-Deutsch & Associates
- David Wright - The Wright Family owns the Space Needle (will serve as Vice Chairman of Seattle Hockey Partners)

They will add their local business experience to major Seattle NHL investors including billionaire David Bonderman--who now owns part of the Boston Celtics of the NBA.
“Less than 12 months ago, we signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Seattle for the privately financed development of the new Seattle Center Arena,” said Tim Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group.
“We are making tremendous progress and are looking forward to these next few weeks as we move into the City Council’s review of our agreements.”
The group will meet with City Council members Friday, before they meet with the NHL’s Board of Governors.
