Ahead of the Seattle Kraken’s first game in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, KIRO 7′s Chris Francis spoke with Kraken radio analyst Dave Tomlinson about

Francis mentioned how strange it is to be playing hockey in May.

“The Kraken players and the coaching staff are just ecstatic that they were able to get Colorado out of the way and get here to Dallas,” Tomlinson said.

The Seattle Kraken defeated the Colorado Avalanche in Game 7 Sunday, securing their spot in the second round of the playoffs.

Tomlinson said he thinks the Avalanche overlooked Seattle goalie Philip Grubauer.

“It was like a home game to him,” Tomlinson said. Grubauer played for the Avalanche from 2018 to 2021, after which he signed a six-year deal with the Kraken.

Tomlinson spoke about the Kraken offense, specifically scoring first in all seven games against the Avalanche.

“I think they were feeling more comfortable going to Game 7 than Game 6,” Tomlinson said.

Francis spoke about the star power the Avalanche had and how the Stars have a similar lineup.

“Seattle doesn’t have those superstar players yet,” Tomlinson said. “Matty Beniers is going to get there.”

Tomlinson added he loves talking hockey in May, but really wants to talk about it June, as the Stanley Cup playoffs come to a close.
