SEATTLE — The NFL has suspended Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon indefinitely for a violation of the league’s policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse.
Gordon started the year with the New England Patriots, but was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 23 with a knee injury. He was waived from injured reserve on Oct. 31 and was claimed by the Seahawks on Nov. 1.
In five games with the Seahawks this season, Gordon had seven receptions for 139 yards -- including an amazing 58 yard catch in the second quarter of Seattle’s 30-24 victory over the Panthers on Sunday.
Gordon was originally a second-round pick in the 2012 Supplemental Draft by the Cleveland Browns after playing at Baylor University and the University of Utah.
In 2013 with the Browns, Gordon was named to the Pro Bowl after recording 87 receptions for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns.
Gordon was suspended the entire 2015 season due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
He also missed all of the 2016 season and was reinstated on Nov. 1, 2017.
Other wide receivers on the Seahawks roster include Tyler Lockett, David Moore, DK Metcalf, Jaron Brown, John Ursua, and Malik Turner.
The 11-3 Seahawks are in first place in the NFC and next play the Arizona Cardinals at CenturyLink Field on Sunday.
