SPANAWAY, Wash. — A fatal crash involving two trucks in Spanaway killed one person and injured three others.
The crash in the 500 block of 176th Street East happened at 9:03 a.m. Tuesday.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said 176th Street East is closed between B Street East and Sixth Avenue East. That stretch of road remained closed as of 12:21 p.m.
According to PCSD Sgt. Darren Moss, a green truck rear-ended a white truck at a high rate of speed.
The white truck then hit a utility pole and a fence.
The green truck drove off the south side of the road and came to a stop against a Bethel School District building. No one inside the building was hurt.
The driver of the green truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger died at the scene.
The two people in the white truck had non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, Moss said.
