SEATTLE — We’ve had record highs in Seattle, Olympia, and Forks as offshore (easterly), downslope and warming winds are sending temperatures spiking. Some wildfire smoke from Oregon and also the Williams Mine Fire in southern Washington are producing some hazy skies, but lowland air quality remains good to moderate and that should continue into Friday morning.
It will be very uncomfortable without air conditioning into tomorrow morning with morning lows in the 60s with most of the overnight hours in the 70s in the lowlands.
Friday will be slightly cooler (much cooler at the coast) but highs will be in the 80s to low 90s again for the interior of Western Washington, including Puget Sound. Temperatures will likely reach 90 from the Eastside of King County south to interior areas of the South Sound. Locations south of Puget Sound could have air quality in the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” category Friday afternoon and evening.
The weekend will be more pleasant, though still slightly warmer than average with highs in the 70s to mid 80s Saturday and in the 70s Sunday.
Next week, high temperatures continue to trend downward each day and most of the week will be cooler than average (average is low-mid 70s for Seattle.) By next Wednesday and Thursday, rain chances could return with high temperatures only in the 60s. It appears this will be the turn toward more fall-like weather, for good.
